1937 Crocker Big Tank / Quail Lodge

Most classic motorcycles simply look old. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.) But a tiny handful still have the power to stop the traffic, decades after they were built. Brough Superior is one such brand; Crocker is another. This is a 1937 Big Tank model, and it’s going under the hammer at Bonhams’ Quail Lodge sale on 16 August. The estimate is a staggering US$270,000—340,000 — via Bike EXIF

Leblanc-Cox Residence / Charles Todd Helton

Showcasing opulence and architectural diversity, Leblanc-Cox Residence was envisioned by Texas-based architect Charles Todd Helton and is located in Austin, USA. According to the official project description, the design was inspired by the home featured in the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock thriller, North by Northwest. It is a modern design with an overall Frank Lloyd Wright feel. Open spaces with high ceilings and large windows characterise the house, which backs up to the Hogg Bird Sanctuary and Bayou Bend. The side of the residence facing the street is defined by compact walls of stone and wood, while the opposite façade was adorned with generous windows, opening up the rooms towards the two level swimming pool with three waterfalls. A large open plan social area sets the tone for an elegant haven, where opulence feels at home. How would you comment on the use of space and materials in the photos below? Can you find any striking resemblance between this residence and Hitchcock’s North by Northwest house? — via Freshome

The Einzeiger Limited Edition watch features a single handmade solid gold hand. Only 25 pieces of each colour will be made (cream, white, black and rhodium coated) Each hand is made personally by Jörg Schauer using 18 karat pink gold for this. Seaside Single House / modostudio

The house [modostudio] is located in the Monte Argentario National Park on the top of an hill with an amazing view facing the sea and the islands just in front of Tuscany. It is an old agricultural warehouse which has been completely rebuild in its shape using recovery stones from the old building — via ArchDaily

Ninety-Two / Hammarhead Industries

Built from a beefy 2007-08 Triumph Bonneville body, Hammarhead Industries‘ new Ninety-Twomodel falls firmly in line with the bare-essentials aesthetic HHI has effortlessly grown to own. Originally designed and built as a one-off for the founder of Swedish workwear brand Dunderdon as part of their recent collaboration collection, the Ninety-Two turned out so well James Hammarhead and the crew decided to introduce it as a new model — via Cool Hunting

Annandale House / CO-AP

The conceptual framework for this project [CO-AP] is very much influenced by its context. The long narrow site is closely bounded by residential units to the south-west and the Piano Factory warehouse apartment conversion to the north. The west and east offer framed views to established trees and green streetscape respectively.

Taking these issues into consideration, the new additions attach to the rear of the terrace and unfold along the length of the site, with new floor levels corresponding to the natural topography, resulting in a series of split levels and pocket courtyards with the eight-metre high stepped Piano Factory heritage wall along the northern boundary as their backdrop — via ArchDaily

Art Deco House / Handforth, Cheshire

On the face of it, a lovely example of a period property. Sadly, that doesn’t carry over into the interior of this 1920s four-bedroom art deco house in Handforth, Cheshire.

That’s not uncommon, but it’s always slightly disappointing when someone has made a typical modern family home out of a distinctive build like this. Hard to criticise though — ultimately this is a house, not a museum.

The asking price is £525,000 — via WowHaus

Octo-labra / Source Collection

Our impressive octopus candelabra, or Octo-labra has eight fabulous tentacles, four of which hold standard tapers. The expressive movement, intricate anatomy, and wondrous form of the cephalopod are captured in the finest pewter. The fabulous styling reminds us of 19th century New England whaling tales featuring these feared creatures from the deep — via Source Collection

1971 BMW R75/5 / Cafe Racer Dreams

For its latest build, Cafe Racer Dreams has taken a break from Triumph Bonnevilles. The Spanish workshop has turned its attention to the vintage BMW R-series — namely, the 749 cc R75/5 boxer. Now owned by Valéry from Paris, this 1971 model is a thorough resto-mod in the increasingly popular scrambler style. And it looks simply gorgeous — via Bike EXIF

Krzywy Domek / Szotynscy & Zaleski

No, you’re not drunk, and no, this isn’t some kind of Photoshop trick. This is an actual building designed in 2004 by someone who had a little too much fun at architecture firm Szotynscy & Zaleski. Krzywy Domek (Crooked House) is a shopping center in Sopot, Poland, and those crazy curves are for real.

Inspired by the fairy tale illustrations of Jan Marcin Szancer and Per Dahlberg, Krzywy Domek looks like it leaped off the pages of a storybook — via Apartment Therapy

Kawasaki Z750 / Wrenchmonkees

Like all the top custom builders, the Wrenchmonkees have a clear and consistent vision. And this, bike #45 from the Copenhagen workshop, could be their best yet.

It’s a little less grungy than some of their earlier work, with glossy paint on the tank. But the low-key colours, blacked-out components and perfectly-judged stance make this Kawasaki Z750 instantly recognizable as a Wrenchmonkees build — via Bike EXIF
