The design [Bernardo Bader] of a cemetery is based on the beliefs and their funeral rites, which in turn say a lot about the particular understanding of nature and social relations. This fact should also be shown clearly in the new cemetery project for Muslims in Vorarlberg — via ArchDaily
With global demand for its watches growing, A Lange & Söhne, based in Glashütte in the German state of Saxony, has been expanding its production facilities over the past few years. The latest step took place on 5 September, with a groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of construction on the company’s new annex.
A Lange & Söhne is already the largest employer in the town of Glashütte, providing jobs for more than 500 people, and its watchmaking workshops are already spread across several buildings. The new annex will provide more than 11,000 square meters of additional space for the movement-assembly departments and the machines that produce delicate movement components. Lange CEO Wilhelm Schmid, who took part in the groundbreaking ceremony along with Walter Lange, great-grandson of brand founder Ferdinand A Lange, welcomes the start of construction. The annex was long overdue,
Schmid says. The new building will allow us to clearly improve production processes and working conditions

The basic values of this house [Juan Carlos Loyo Arquitectura] come from the understanding of the surrounding environment along with the study of vernacular architecture. Our semi-dry climate brought us to the use of passive methods, and, like vernacular spaces, there where many resources to use: orientation, thermic mass, cross ventilation, hand made materials and other proven methods — via ArchDaily
Sometimes even a man of the cloth needs a little earthly diversion. So it was with Father Dave Reinhart, a chaplain in the US Air Force, recently returned from a posting in Iraq. He contacted Richard Pollock at Mule Motorcycles about modifying his 2006 Triumph Bonneville—nothing too crazy, just an amplification of the bike’s good points — via Bike EXIF
This 1960s three-bedroom modernist property in Soisy-sous-Montmorency, near Paris, France really is a statement of an era.
The agent talks about expansion, but extending would probably adversely affect the original design. Don’t do it people. If you like the house as it stands, an offer of around €749,000 will secure it — via WowHaus

This former Catholic Technical College has been converted [ITN Architects] into two, three storey warehouse apartments by removing the roof, retaining the lower floors and constructing a new upper floor which has been set back on all sides to create upper decks and balconies.
Many of the former industrial buildings simple details were retained as well as the external walls and lower floors. DP Custom Cycles have built their reputation with classy Ironhead-based customs. But for their latest build, they’ve jumped forward in time — with a 2000-model Harley Sportster 1200.
Black & White
has a stripped-back, minimal look, and is all the better for it. The customer for this build was really cool to work with,
says DP’s Jarrod Del Prado. His only requirements were that the bike rode well and we stuck with black and white with the paint scheme

These remarkable constructions appear to all intents and purposes as if they could have been built to create the set for a new science fiction blockbuster set on a planet light years away from Earth. Yet these are centuries old instruments, designed and used in Jaipur, India, to explore the heavens. Their production was ordered by Maharajah Jai Singh II in the early decades of the 18th century and they have been in constant use ever since — via Kuriositas

Created by a skilled wildlife artist, the pewter octopus is cast in splendid detail down to the individual sucker pods on each of his eight tentacles. The stainless steel half globe makes the perfect ice tub, punch bowl, or use to chill wines for your special occasion — via Source Collection
