Lovell House / Richard Neutra

The Lovell House was designed for the active, health conscious Lovell family in the hills of Los Angeles. The house is an early example of the International Style in the United States that evokes principles that were developed by Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright. The house consists of a series of overlapping planes that do not stick to Wright’s proportionality; rather they are a hybrid of Wright’s planar devices combined with Le Corbusier’s stark, streamlined aesthetic — via ArchDaily

Goldenkey Ski Hotel / LEA Invent

The Goldenkey Chalet, at an altitude of 2000 metres, is a 41-room hotel situated at the ski resort of Kartalkaya in Turkey. The hotel has two restaurants, a café, lobby, children’s playroom, lounges, SPA and ski room — via ArchDaily

Casa Ruiz / Momo Estudio

The Project is born over the remains of an ancient, about 120 year old cottage. It had a popular, architectural typology of the region, this means, one floor with two spaces, facing the south, with the rooms in both sides of the central circulation and spaces of chambers and under covers in the upper floor — via ArchDaily

BMW R45 Custom

There’s something about the compact, muscular stance of 70s-vintage BMWs that makes them prime candidates for customization. This one comes from leading glass artist Francesco Pagnin of Treviso in Italy, who calls his motorcycle workshop ‘Franz Garage’. It’s based on a BMW R45, the 473cc boxer-engined middleweight built throughout the late 70s and early 80s — via Bike EXIF

Off-Grid itHouse Going Up in California

This 800-square foot Clearlake itHouse is under construction in California right now. Similar to another itHouse that we mentioned previously, the home will be off-grid and solar-powered.  It will also be the first, elevated, above-ground itHouse, leaving the site relatively untouched by the structure.

The Taalman Koch Architecture-designed retreat includes a studio, bathroom, and three outdoor court decks. A wood burning stove will provide heat and propane will be used for cooking and water heating — via Jetson Green

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph

Audemars Piguet has updated its last year’s Royal Oak Offshore tourbillon chronograph watch with a more subdued version, which is going to be sold as a Ref. 26550AU.OO.A002CA.01 model.

If you compare both models, you will see that the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph Ref. 26550AU.OO.A002CA.01 retained the basic shapes of the last year’s version, but now offers a different combination of materials and a more standard layout of the dial.

The case is now made of forged carbon, which is accented with glossy black ceramic bezel, as well as crown and chronograph push-pieces made of the same scratch-resistant material — via World Watch Review

Bridge House / Joeb Moore + Partners Architects

The Bridge House is located in Kent, Connecticut along a 300′ ridge that parallels the Housatonic River not far from Kent Falls State Park. The state park boasts a beautiful series of cascading falls and a historic covered bridge. Joeb Moore + Partners Architects took these impressions and observations of the surrounding environment as inspiration and the jumping off point for the conceptual design of the Bridge House — via ArchDaily

Palais Bulles / Antti Lovag

Fittingly named Palais Bulles, or Palace of Bubbles, this residence represents the fundamental ideas of architect Antti Lovag, who views architecture as a form of play- spontaneous, joyful, full of surprise. Built in 1989, it rests on a rocky cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea — via ArchDaily

Hurteau-Miller Cottage / Kariouk Associates

This cottage is designed for a couple with a young son and will serve as a center-point for the gatherings of a greatly extended family and will one day become the family’s primary residence. The challenge was to implement an architectural strategy that breaks down very large programmatic requirements and, as a result, the seeming bigness of the proposed home. The spatial system therefore is conceived as a porous and open ground-floor that supports a solid, “private” volume above. All of the primary living and communal functions, such as the indoor and outdoor living rooms, kitchen and eating area, and sauna open either literally or volumetrically to the surrounding lakeshore — via ArchDaily

De Bethune DB25T Tourbillon Regulator

The new De Bethune DB25T Tourbillon Regulator manual-wind watch features a self-regulating twin-barrel movement and a feather-light tourbillon escapement with jumping seconds.

Powered by the DB25T hand-wound movement, the watch sports an ultra-light (the company claims that it is in fact the lightest of its type) silicon/titanium tourbillon carriage, which is made of fifty parts and tips the scales at 0.18 gram — via World Watch Review

Northwest Peach Farm by Bates Masi Architects

Bates Masi Architects designed the Northwest Peach Farm in East Hampton, New York.

This residence is primarily used when the clients’ extended family comes from England for long visits. They come to relax and to reconnect with their family and with nature, away from city crowds and traffic, at a retreat they neither want nor need to leave for a month. The design objective was to make every day of that month unique by providing a range of destinations within the site with diverse scales, functions, and views: from gathering in the expansive living room overlooking the fields of the former peach orchard to reading alone on a shaded bench between the library and the edge of the forest. Multiple paths and hallways connect each destination, further increasing variety. Finally, each detail and custom furnishing is designed to make mundane rituals into thoughtful events — via CONTEMPORIST

Beached House / BKK Architects

The recurring ritual that plays out in the journey to the holiday home is integral to the conception of this house: the car and its contained interior; the stop off for provisions in the last town before arrival; getting out and unchaining the entry gate before driving onto the site; the wall that confronts them, the view denied; the welcoming gesture of the front portal wedge; and the final release to the view as one enters the main living spaces.

Beached House continues BKK Architects interest in the curation of the domestic as a sequence of unfolding spaces that deny, and then release views. The journey through the house is through a series of subtly shifting spaces that alter one’s orientation to climate and terrain — via ArchDaily

JD House / BAK Architects

The 20m x 30m plot of land in the coastal Mar Azul forest in Buenos Aires, Argentina is the site for BAK Architects‘ JD House, a residence designed in concrete, wood and glass and blended into the topography and vegetation on the site. The preliminary specifications for the house required two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large, flexible social area, integrated into the kitchen, that could accommodate different activities for the guests that are expected to visit. The client also specified that generous outdoor expansions were available on the site — via ArchDaily

Lange’s New Saxonia Thin

For 2011 Lange is redsigning the Saxonia family, and the new Saxonia Thin offers discrete luxury and classic elegance in a case that measures only 5.9m thick. And at 40mm in diameter, the Saxonia Thin makes a stylish statement on the wrist — via WatchTime

Laboratory / Randy Brown Architects

The architect purchased this property and decided to move into the house while phasing construction projects. The intention is for the project to be a laboratory for architectural experiments.

The site is in the country in a partially wooded area with rolling hills with views to the west and south. The existing house is located on the highest ground of the site on the edge of where the trees meet the native prairie grass meadow — via ArchDaily
