CV House / Bernd Steinhuber

There is no interior, no exterior, just one moving and living deck. One lives in the landscape. Connected with the lake, the blooming trees, the vineyards, the sparkling lights in the night. To see all this unhindered at any time and to preserve the tree population, the living deck has to be situated above the existing terrain. The roof and the living deck are raised, the space around opens out similarly. On a sharp edge which joins the spots where the structure strikes the terrain — via ArchDaily

Perrelet Turbine XL Watch

Perrelet created a hell of a fun toy with the original Perrelet Turbine watch, and improved on it with the Turbine XL. It is large, has a more distinctive design and a more turbine-like, turbine style dial. The spinning turbine on the dial serves no functional purpose -but doesn’t even pretend to. This is meant to be a pure item of visual entertainment — via A Blog to Read

Shift House / Apollo Architects & Associates

Surrounding the site in the outskirts of Tokyo is lush green and a slow-paced environment. The building was commissioned by a family composed of the husband who manages an insurance company, the wife who works as a patternmaker and their two children. It was planned as a SOHO, with a space for the yoga classes run by the wife added to the house — via ArchDaily

Neugebauer House / Richard Meier & Partners Architects

Among many other things, the Neugebauer House, which was completed in 1998, stands as a prime example of an architects ability to creatively design within the city codes and regulations while still maintaining the quality and style found in their other buidings.

As a prominent twentieth century architect who fuses main principles of design from his peers and fellow architects with his own, Richard Meier is known for his endless variations of a rather specific theme of white Neo-Corbusian form, mostly using enameled panels and glass. The emphasis on light, color, place, plain geometry and the interaction between all of the latter help Richard Meier & Partners Architects to design architecture that is clear, comprehensible, and easily admirable — via ArchDaily

Central St Giles Court / Renzo Piano & Fletcher Priest Architects

The proposed concept for the site was to transform a single-use office building into a genuinely mixed use development incorporating office, retail, restaurant and residential use; seeking to create a new destination integrated within the local area.

The architects chose to situate the buildings around a new courtyard in the center of the site, which is connected by a publicly accessible route and ground floor public uses to the surrounding streets and spaces — via ArchDaily

Torreaguera Atresados / XPIRAL

The two ‘atretic’ houses proposed, revolved around the idea of a redistribution of the plots along a row. The construction had to abide by the conditions of the maximum height permitted for buildings in the area and having to adapt to the topology of the existing plots — via ArchDaily

Honda CB750 Custom

CRD’s third release is called Military Gold, a reference to the Firestone Military tires fitted to 19” wheels. It’s 1979 CB750 KZ, and CRD have shown once again how small (and inexpensive) changes can radically change the character of a bike. The engine is stock, apart from modified Keihin carbs, a free-flowing intake system and Megaton mufflers. The frame has been stripped of all unnecessary addenda, a simplified wiring loom has been fitted, and an aluminum battery box and Renthal bars complete the picture. The fenders are bobbed and everything else has been blacked out or repainted — via Bike EXIF

Hublot Masterpiece Watch

Hublot goes tonneau. Fans of the brands have been asking for a non Big Bang or King Power inspired watch for a long time. Something is finally here, and this is just the first of more to come. This is the first Hublot Masterpiece collection (Ref. MP-01), and will be a range of higher-end Hublot timepieces with in-house movements that will be positioned between standard Hublot watches and the ultra high-end Confrerie Hublot timepieces. The Masterpiece MP-01 will be limited to just 100 pieces — via A Blog to Read

Fidalga 727 / Triptyque

The urban landscape of São Paulo is heavily influenced by two main characters that coexist independently and simultaneously. On one hand, the vertical constructions – most of them faithful to the modernist/rationalist models –, which evolve randomly with the inconstant guidelines of the urban planning. On the other hand, the historical and/or informal occupation of two or three floors of the residual spaces between these constructions — via ArchDaily

Apartment in Paris / Pascal Grasso Architectures

The program was simple a private client, an apartment in the centre of Paris, with a large terrace. The architects were challenged with connecting the apartment with the terrace. The result is a large volume that opens directly on the terrace, and it is the main space of floor as well as the entry room. The bedrooms are rearranged on the first level to accommodate the living space and terrace — via ArchDaily

BV House / Biselli + Katchborian architects

The architectural conception for the BV House, located in São Paulo, Brazil, follows a structural approach evident in spans and cantilevers, result of the ribbed concrete slabs.

The three-floor house has on its first floor the garage and service areas, a second floor for kitchen and social rooms and a third floor with bedrooms and family room — via ArchDaily

Ellis Residence / Coates Design

The owners had a special goal in mind when they decided to build a sustainable home in the beautiful surroundings of Bainbridge Island, WA. The owners’ goal was two-fold: they wanted to prove that sustainability can be achieved without compromising a modern aesthetic design and they wanted to motivate others to follow suit — via ArchDaily

Von Dutch Motorcycle

I’m not convinced about the looks of this bike, but there’s no denying its place in motorcycling history. It’s a 1959 Moto Guzzi Falcone that was worked on by Kenny Howard—better known as Von Dutch. Howard was contracted by the owner, a guy called Richard H. Cormany, who bought the bike secondhand in 1961 and rode it for a year before spending 5,000 hours customizing it. — via Bike EXIF

VC1 / Tisselli Studio Architetti

The architecture doesn’t limit itself to the planning fit but it ends with the realization of the work, and this happens not necessarily before facing the Administrations and the corporations standing around the building trial. The complexity of the relationships and the compromises that there can be at the beginning of an architectural production cannot however justify shortage of the planning commitment and/or the total subjugation to the businessmen and buyers requests: the system that goes from the planning to the realization of the work is always a social action, it is shared, and in there the responsibility of the architecture must be recognized, to all the levels and in every context — via ArchDaily

Liberty Medical Center / Front Studio Architects

Designed by Front Studio Architects, the Liberty Medical Center, a 20,000 sqf, 4-story medical office building on Liberty Avenue, brings a strong presence to the street that engages both users and observers of the architecture.  The architects carefully considered how this new construction could become a link between the existing varying scales within the neighborhood — via ArchDaily

RGM 151P Watch

Beautifully polished case, an unusual stepped bezel and perfectly made onion crown. On the dial, notice that the minute track is four segments, with a lumed triangle at 3, 6, 9 and 12. The hour hand just reaches the step of the dial inset, the minute hand reaches out into the track and is the same length as the ultra-slim second hand. Hands and dial ink are a matched shade of off-white, and the dial is a deep matte gray. — via A Blog to Read
