KH+DH Houses / Vladimir Kalinowski

The KH+DH Houses designed by Vladimir Kalinowski aim to accomodate two elderly couples. Conceptualized around the idea of a centrally located courtyard, the homes are connected both visual and programmatically by the garden. The relationship between inside and outside also became a crucial aspect of the quality of space — via ArchDaily

Breitling Avenger Seawolf Blacksteel Chrono Code Yellow and Code Orange

Breitling freshens it up a bit with two new special editions of its Avenger Seawolf Chrono Blacksteel, dubbed Code Yellow and Code Orange. Other than the colors, these watches are unchanged from original Breitling Avenger Seawolf Chrono (2010) — 45mm case, 1,000 meter water resistance, and a Breitling patented magnetic pushpiece system which enables the chronograph functions to be fully functional even at 3,300 feet deep (most chronographs can not be used at meaningful depths because it can compromise the watertight-ness of the watch — via Perpetuelle

Berkshires XIII House / Burr & McCallum Architects

This is a house [Burr & McCallum Architects] built around an art collection. The need to maximize wall space while still having large windows led to our design solution: A rectangular box with windows to the view contains the major living spaces. This is broken in several places with cubes containing studies, the front entry, and the screened porch. These cubes push into the interior, providing walls for paintings, small “accidental” gallery spaces, as well as the separation necessary between private and public spaces — via ArchDaily

Sundance QuickSilver XR1200

Sundance is one of the top Japanese custom motorcycle builders, but it’s a name unknown to a surprising number of westerners. Zak Shibazaki’s company focuses on performance as much as looks, with a range of high-tech, go-fast goodies designed to eke more horsepower out of stock Harleys. Sundance’s custom bikes always have the go to match the show, and this 2010 machine is a prime example. The starting point is a 1995 Harley-Davidson XL1200S frame, with modifications including side rails to beef up the lateral and torsional rigidity. Then there’s a multitude of bespoke parts including that custom aluminum tank and a gorgeous painted carbon fiber seat unit. But the real action, however, comes from the motor. As with all Sundance SuperXR engines, the bottom end comes from an Evo Sportster—but everything else is custom-built for racetrack performance — via Bike EXIF

Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk Pro 1000M Automatic Diving Watch

The new Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk Pro 1,000M automatic diving watch comes in the same peculiarly shaped case that was first presented nine years ago.

Jarego House / CVDB arquitectos

The house [CVDB arquitectos] is located in a lot with 8 x 40 meters (24 x 120 feet) in the urban historical fabric of the city of Cartaxo.

A central patio and a garden allow the light to go through all spaces of the house during the day. This central patio is an importance element in the structure of the house, designing a void, around which the house develops itself. The project explores the length of the site enabling its inhabitants to enjoy its different spaces and visualize, wander or move into and through this axis that becomes the main movement sequence of the project — via ArchDaily

Chronoswiss Balance Double Retrograde Chronograph

The vintage-styled Chronoswiss Balance automatic chronograph watch features a double retrograde display that resembles wings of a butterfly.

Spam perseveres, despite Rustock takedown

Global spam dropped by one-third immediately after the Rustock Botnet was dismantled in mid March, according to the March edition of the Symantec MessageLabs Intelligence monthly report.

The output fell dramatically and almost instantaneously, the reports said, suggesting that the botnet was no longer sending any spam and that it had either been taken down or had entered a self-imposed exile, as it did in December 2010 — via redwolf.newsvine.com

Does America need a full-size, fully functioning AT-AT? Do we even need to ask?

Patriotic geeks who hoped to build a fully functional imperial walker out of the Star Wars universe have run up against Lucasfilm’s intellectual property rights. But at least the indefinite delay gives them time to consider the massive engineering challenges of re-creating a 50-foot-tall robotic vehicle — via redwolf.newsvine.com

Eberhard & Co Chrono 4 Geant Edition Limitee Titane

Presented in March 2011, the new Eberhard & Co Chrono 4 Geant Edition Limitee Titane automatic chronograph watch is a minor update to the last year’s Eberhard & Co Chrono4 BADBOY model.

As the rest of the Chrono 4 series, the new Geant Edition Limitee features the signature dial layout with four small sub-dials stretching in line in the lower part of the dial.

Besides the usual 30-minute and 12 hour chronograph counters and a small subsidiary seconds indicator, there is also a 24-hour GMT indicator that tells you time in a second time zone. — via World Watch Review

Porn company collecting 1-800 numbers

Records obtained by The Associated Press show that over the past 13 years, a little-known Philadelphia company called PrimeTel Communications has quietly gained control over nearly a quarter of all the 1-800 numbers in the US and Canada, often by grabbing them the moment they are relinquished by previous users. As of March, it administered more 800 numbers that any other company, including Verizon and AT&T.

And many, if not most, of those 1.7 million numbers appear to be used for one thing: redirecting callers to a phone-sex service — via redwolf.newsvine.com
