Crafted by Lang & Heyne in a limited edition run of 25 pieces, the ivory that’s used in the Friedrich August I and Johann von Sachsen models was sourced from 10,000-year-old woolly mammoths that were preserved in the Russian permafrost for thousands and thousands of years. And it’s not like the ivory is just being used as decorative accents. It’s actually been incorporated into the watch’s inner structures and components. So you’re probably getting your money’s worth given extinction has made sure this particular ivory isn’t exactly a renewable resource. You’ll also understand why these unique mammoth watches cost upwards of $US44,000 — via Gizmodo Australia
There are few motorcycles more exotic than a Bimota. And this machine, which has just gone up for sale, is one of the most covetable Bimotas of all—the 1986 DB1R racer. Built in conjunction with Ducati, it’s one of the four factory bikes campaigned by Davide Tardozzi, Malcolm Tunstall of Syd’s Cycles, and Dale Quarterley.
The bike is in New York, and owner Gregory Rathe has just put it up for sale. The asking price is $80,000, which compares well with the Tardozzi DB1R, which is listed for $200,000 in Japan. If you’re interested, email Gregory here — via Bike EXIF

Growing out of the hillside, the roof is carved away to form a protected courtyard for the pool — via ArchDaily

A classic entry colonnade that channels the view through the centre of the house and all the way to the infinity pool on the other side, forms the introduction to a Hollywood retrofit by James Magni.
Built in the 1960s, the original did have good bones, but small rooms, low ceilings and fussy details – that had to go.
Magni reinvented it as the modernist classic it was meant to be — via Home Design Find
This birdhouse is inspired by the Shasta campers of the 1950’s. The colour scheme is red over black with a cream stripe. The aluminium door is both a design accent and a deterrent to squirrels, while the curved awning is just pure style. Features a slide out bottom for easy cleaning, durable and stable marine grade plywood construction, brass fasteners and one and one half inch entry hole — via Etsy
