A bright and fun building that stands out against it’s surroundings, Michael Graves is well respected for his design that brought hope to the families of children with disabilities in Washington D.C. and surrounding areas.
St. Coletta was founded in 1959 by a couple with a child diagnosed with Down Syndrome. As they had history dealing with the struggle of finding an educational system that worked for their child, they decided to establish the school as a special education charter which serviced and educated children with severe or multiple disabilities. The bright colors and simple forms make it very fitting for the people that the building serves, as it is fun, playful and inviting

Between 1981 and 1983, Honda’s outlandish ELF prototypes competed in the World Endurance Championships, generating a slew of patents for Honda—including one for a single-sided rear swingarm. Fast but unreliable, the machines were created by Renault designer Andre de Cortanze, who was a keen endurance rider as well as an accomplished automobile designer. Known as the “ELFe”, the bikes raced at the Bol d’Or and Le Mans 24 Hours; this particular machine was rebuilt in 2008 by the French restoration experts Kerlo Classic, in collaboration with former racer Hubert Rigal. Sinn has been getting real divers and desk divers alike drooling from the mouth since the 1990s with their seriously pro EZM line of watch. EZM
stands for Einsatzzeitmesser, which roughly translates into mission timer
. Really happy they chose to shorten that word to just EZM
. Also sounds E-Z to say. These watches have come in different forms over the years, but have all shared a more or less signature DNA look. Now in its seventh iteration – the EZM is starting to get some color — via A Blog to Read
The house is sited on a high, thin peninsula, affording 270 degree views from South through West to North. The long axis of the house is perpendicular to the axis of the peninsula, aligning it with sunrise and sunset. The main space is open from North to South, with bedrooms behind a wall that angles away toward the South-East, making the space wider at the West end of the house. The effect is akin to a lens opening up to the view across a bay and other islands beyond — via Architecture Blog
Being essentially a set of tritium-filled tubes that are installed on hour markers (1st-11th are green and the 12th is orange) and hour and minute hands, the LLT tubes are very bright significantly increasing watch’s legibility in twilight and tend to serve for as a long as 25 years.
The watch is powered by an inexpensive Ronda 517 Swiss quartz movement, which is built on one jewel, is 26.20 mm in diameter and 3.0 mm thick. Sporting a standard three-hands layout and capable of displaying current day and date, the movement can run for about 45 months before changing the battery and is accurate within -10/ +20 seconds per month — via World Watch Review
Jason Wonder will build you a bike only if you promise you’re really going to ride it. And owner Ricky Powell enjoys his Wonder Customs Rev-2 to the max. It’s a lithe concoction wrapped around a beefy V-Rod motor, and an excellent showcase for Wonder’s fabrication skills — via Bike EXIF
The design is based on the Danish atrium house typology from the 60s and 70s and has an outer brick wall and an inner façade which is mostly glazed. The northern wing contains sleeping quarters and bathrooms; the eastern wing is the living area. The house is penetrated by several lightwells, and lines-of-sight play with the eye as you move through the rooms — via ArchDaily

Growing up in Idaho Falls, Idaho was strange enough but I always wondered what was up with this collection of futuristic hippy homes in my neighborhood above Idaho Falls (called Rimrock Estates, in Ammon, ID). The place is overrun with starter castles today, yet these architectural anomalies built sometime in the early 80’s, presumably by the same developer continue to amaze — via New City Movement
It seems that the Hublot King Power Ayrton Senna Limited Edition watch is very close to the line where it will become a very expensive clone of the iconic Casio G-Shock family of watches.
Sporting the same design as the rest of the King Power family, the new watch overcompensates for the lack of fresh ideas with exotic materials, such as Nomex (flame resistant meta-aramid material that is widely used in making circuit boards and firefighting equipment) for a strap, as well as forged carbon fiber and perforated ceramics for the case and bezel respectively — via World Watch Review
Instead of usual gear trains, the Monaco V4 uses a set of transmission belts to transfer rotational energy from component to another. Although extremely thin, the belts are reinforced with real steel cords to increase their mileage
.
To make the watch even more efficient, TAG Heuer substituted traditional synthetic rubies with tiny ball bearings, thus significantly reducing friction

Elegant and refined, the Archimede Arcadia is clearly influenced by the gorgeous IWC Portuguese automatic chronographs.
As a matter of fact, the influence is so evident that some may even call the Arcadia a rip-off

Located on a hillside property overlooking Hayden Lake, the Henry Point project is a 830 sqf loft addition and intensive reprogramming of an existing lake cabin in northern Idaho. The project connects visitors of family and friends to the surrounding landscape through a series of decks and operable facades that create large indoor/outdoor gathering spaces as well as two independent living areas — via ArchDaily
The home has two Medium cabins from the company’s SML Series and a site-built bridge connecting each wing. One side features a kitchen, living room, laundry, and half-bathroom, while the other side features two bedrooms and a full bathroom — via Jetson Green

This fortress-like residential project is home to many remarkable opposites. The stone masonry base of this luxury beach house is carved right into the rock of a jutting cliff top, while the ultra-modern upper stories stretch and bend against the organic confines of their natural surroundings — via Dornob
The dwelling is located in Les Neyres, a hamlet situated on the slopes above Monthey where the vineyards stop and the chestnut woods start – a situation that is neither plane nor mountain. That said, the planning requirements dictate an alpine vernacular in an area zoned for chalet-style building. In its composition of volumes and use of materials, the project engages with the requirements by reinterpreting the characteristic image of an Illiez Valley chalet. The lines of the angled roof are incorporated within the volume of the house. The plan takes the form of a deformed hexagon — via ArchDaily
