Father found baby in northwest Calgary dumpster

Suddenly needing a crib, diapers and baby clothes, a new Calgary father was in a rush Wednesday morning to get the essentials for his little boy.

He vows the infant will be well cared for and promises to fight for custody.

In his first interview since the ordeal, the man whose baby was found in a northwest garbage bin Tuesday — by himself without knowing he was looking at his son — said he will do whatever he can for the infant that he and the baby’s mom didn’t know was coming — via redwolf.newsvine.com

Little Red Riding Hood’s Demise

Little Red Riding Hood's Demise

On this wretched day, Little Red Riding Hood should have just stayed inside grandma’s house. Even though she seemed to be getting along with the wolf in the photo, below, it looks like it was all set up by the furry beast. By the looks of the black and white shots, the wolf premeditated the whole ordeal…

Even though it’s obvious that these photos were digitally enhanced by Israeli Shlomi Nissim, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell that if the scenes weren’t so outrageous. The quality of the shots is very high — via My Modern Met

For sale: Charles Deaton’s Sculptured House – 1960s space age house from Woody Allen’s Sleeper

For sale: Charles Deaton's Sculptured House - 1960s space age house from Woody Allen's Sleeper in Denver, Colorado, USA

Big thanks to Bob Luedeka for flagging up the sale of arguably the most famous space age house ever built – Charles Deaton’s Sculptured House.

You probably know it better as the house in Woody Allen’s futuristic 1973 movie Sleeper, but the property pre-dates that year, designed and built in 1963, just outside Denver, Colorado and covering 7,500 sq. ft. over three floors. It was last sold in 1999 by software millionaire John Huggins for $1.3 million, a native of the area who picked up the place in a state of serious neglect – and went about restoring it back to its former glory — via Retro To Go

Modern Hen Coop with a Green Roof

Modern Hen Coop with a Green Roof

If you’re thinking about raising chickens, there are a few ways to go about it.  You could build a retro Modern Coop or Quonset Coop.  Or, you could build a boxy coop with a green roof, like this one pictured here and featured in Dwell.  It’s framed with two-by-fours, insulated, sheathed with oriented strand board, covered in reclaimed cedar, ventilated with two upper windows, and topped with native landscaping, according to Miyoko Ohtake. — via Jetson Green
