The body of a man with his hands and feet nailed to a wooden cross and a crown of thorns on his head has been found in an abandoned South Korean stone quarry.
The body had a wound to the side of the torso and nylon strings tied around the neck, arms and stomach, and was clad only in underpants, police said. It was found on Sunday in Mungyong, about 115 miles (190km) south-east of Seoul, said Chung Ji-chun, the provincial chief for violent crime — via redwolf.newsvine.com
A series of lookalike domestic structures [Mitsutomo Matsunami Architect & Associates] presents a problem for both residents and guests. On the one hand, there is the sense of being solitary but stuck within a set of blandly identical buildings. On the other hand, visitors have to find a particular domicile from a larger group.
Adding this gesture to the facades works as a way-finding device, ties together the disparate units, but also makes them look and feel different, all without adding considerable cost to lower-priced, multi-family residences — via Dornob
Yvette Vickers, an early Playboy playmate whose credits as a B-movie actress included such cult films as Attack of the 50-Foot Woman

Vickers, 82, had not been seen for a long time. A neighbor discovered her body in an upstairs room of her Westwanda Drive home on April 27. Its mummified state suggests she could have been dead for close to a year, police said.
The official cause of death will by determined by the Los Angeles county coroner’s office, but police said they saw no sign of foul play — via redwolf.newsvine.com

When this landed in my inbox, I couldn’t wait to share it with you as part of our Geek Crafts month! From Justine at Cast Away:
Last year Ray Cannon started coming into Cast Away for supplies to begin learning how to needle felt. Without knowing anything about the medium he quickly connected with this art form and found it similar to Scupley, a medium he’d used a few times before. Ray enjoys the felting medium for its molding ability without actually carving into the form. He soon began creating amazingly life-like, detailed animals. His pieces are so captivating — be sure to come see the sculptures and meet Ray Cannon.
Ray’s art will be on display at Cast Away in Santa Rosa, beginning Thursday, May 5th. From 6-8pm snacks will be served, and he will on hand to demonstrate his techniques — via CRAFT
