Quite a departure from Josh Agle — aka Shag — who has left the 1960s and dropped into the ‘70s for this wonderful Summer of ’76 limited edition print.
Of course, the stars of this particular show are The Ramones and (we are guessing) the CBGB club. Although we’re not sure if there were so many posters on the wall of the club back in 1976! Either way, it’s an iconic band in a cool club setting.
It is a 13-colour hand pulled serigraph print, sized at 32.5 x 17 inches (82.5cm x 43cm) and sold in an edition of 150. Each print is also signed and numbered by Shag and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The initial price is $450 — via Retro To Go
Baby Octopus is made of soft, dark blue tonal fleece, with sort of a hand-dyed look to the fabric. His curling tentacles are lined with turquoise blue dimpled minky, complete with little raised bumps that resemble his would-be suction cups! Baby Octopus is gently stuffed with polyfil, holding all the cuddles you can stand. Baby Octopus has little black plastic safety eyes. Baby Octopus is made from my own design for plush octopi. Because of variations of fabric prints, direction of fabric cut, and hand-sewing, each octopus will be unique! Since Baby Octopus doesn’t have a name, we’ll leave that up to you! Baby Octopus’ body measures about 14 ½ inches around at the largest, his overall length is about 14 inches (from the top of his head to the tip of his toes, with his tentacles uncurled) — via Etsy

This is the Click-Clack Table Tennis Table, a unique luxury ping pong table for specific tastes. It’s regulation size, including the net. But the net and the table supports are railroad tracks. Holding them up are huge slabs of oak and hickory that used to be railroad ties.
It’s made by Railyard Studios, a company that salvages wood and steel from railroads to make bespoke furniture. This particular table was recovered from the Tennessee Coal & Iron Company. The markings on the steel and wood indicate that they were made in 1904 and 1921, respectively — via Neatorama
Anthony Bourdain and The Balvenie head to San Francisco, California to meet with Andrew Hoyem, master typographer and printer of Arion Press. One of the last of its kind, Arion Press has only a handful of members on its staff, all fellow craftsmen dedicated to this age old process. Each works meticulously to create the books in multiple parts, from the typecasters, to the proofreaders, to the printers and the bookbinders. All of these hands build a work of art through a process that must be seen to be believed, and can only, truly, be described as magic — via Youtube

It may not be the definitive decision which propels humanity towards our inevitable end, but in a post on the Beeb’s internet blog, James East, the Media Playout Product Manager, stated that his team is now confident they can achieve the playback quality you’d expect from the BBC without using a third-party plugin
.
HTML5 has already been used to deliver video to iOS devices. However, the Beeb has been hesitant to share this rollout to desktop services.
This was not an act of spite, East assures readers, but because Aunty felt that the consistent experience and efficient media delivery offered by Flash outweighed the benefit of moving to HTML5

In 1971 a local government survey revealed that the citizens of Scarfolk were, by and large, content. This was of great concern to the council which worried that its people risked developing self-confidence — perhaps even dignity — and worse that they might even have false hopes for a brighter future.
By 1972 a government scheme to stifle these dangerous thoughts was in full effect. Schools were not permitted to grade any student higher than a D
; adults received personalised insults by post or telephone, and families attended compulsory classes which promoted subservience and feelings of shame.
Additionally, every Friday local newspapers published an updated list of individual citizens’ current worth alongside prices for poultry, offal and other meat products. Some citizens’ values frequently fell below that of brain, spleen, heart and tripe.
