Here’s the latest custom to roll out of the Madrid workshop of Cafe Racer Dreams. Once again, there’s an off-road influence—but this time, the Spanish workshop has taken a dirt bike and realigned it for road use, rather than the other way round.

CRD #19 is called Apolo and is based on a 1991 Honda XR600. After a complete strip-down, the entire rear of the chassis was rebuilt to take the new seat unit and a sleek new tank—stolen from a Honda CG 125. Once upon a time, this 1970s Myron Goldfinger-designed modernist property in West Orange, New Jersey, USA was the future. Now it’s just a quirky (but appealing) relic of a bygone era.

Although inside, this single-storey property has obviously been lavished with some attention in recent years, looking every bit the modern home once you get through the door, with a touch of retro thrown in to suit the surroundings. But once you get back outside, you can still sit back and admire the wonderful space age curves of this 1977 property. It really is a wonder.

Inside the LUC 8HF is a new movement for Chopard, the LUC 01.06-L. Though this is the first movement to receive the 8Hz COSC-certified escapement, it likely won’t be the last. Instead of developing the escapement solely for one movement, Chopard has smartly created a system that can be adapted to work with almost any of their LUC movements. this customized 1996 S1 Lightning is the bike that Buell should have built in the first place. And ironically, the tank and the headlight come from a raid on the Milwaukee parts bin: the tank is from a 1998 White Lightning, and the headlight is from a V-Rod. With a Ducati 999 rear subframe and tail section grafted on, this Lightning is positively good lookin’.

It’s the work of Paul Shore, who runs the Canadian workshop Motorrad Performance. Shore bought the bike new and immediately started customizing it, but the incarnation we’re looking at here is a recent one—with fresh styling and a major performance boost — via Bike EXIF
