Head Huggers has a tutorial for knitting an aviator-style cap. It’s cute, and I think it might be next on my list. But first I’m going to finish the striped fingerless mitts that I started at Bazaar Bizarre a couple weeks ago (I’m making them in light blue and gray) — via CRAFT
The Pohutukawa House stands at the coastal foreshore of a wild beach on a site almost overgrown with mature Pohutukawa trees.
The positions of the existing trees and their twisted limbs have been closely mapped and the house has been designed to occupy the residual space that the trees have left (beside and under the trees). The striking geometry of the house has been developed in direct response to the available residual space, while maintaining a maximum height profile that approximates the top of the tree canopy — via ArchDaily

The special features of this building are its unusual shape and location. In order to present a corporate image for a shipping company, the architect explored and worked just as an artist would in creating a work of sculpture. The futuristic concept of the building, with its play of heaviness and lightness in the composition of the mass, gives the initial idea of a spaceship landing on the rocky surface of a planet. In the context of its environment, an extended stretch of rocky beach, the building aims to be a focal point or landmark for the area — via ArchDaily

We have seen these hands before – and they are meant to evoke the Titanic’s anchor — via A Blog to Read
