Late this week, I heard from several anti-spam activists who alerted me to a nice reminder that spammers don’t always win: Spammers have been promoting their rogue pharmacy sites via images uploaded to free image hosting service imageshack.com. In response, the company appears to have simply replaced those images with the above subtle warning — via redwolf.newsvine.com

Jakob + Macfarlane Architects have designed The Orange Cube in Lyon, France.
The ambition of the urban planning project for the old harbor zone, developed by VNF (Voies Naviguables de France) in partnership with Caisse des Dépôts and Sem Lyon Confluence, was to reinvest the docks of Lyon on the river side and its industrial patrimony, bringing together architecture and a cultural and commercial program — via CONTEMPORIST

There is something special about teaching hospitals that make them different from other institutions. The Dental College of Jamia had these characteristics. It serves to provide dental care to the people in surrounding areas and is also one of the primary teaching centres of Dentistry in India. So at one end the users are the common public and at the other end the users are the medical students. The College was therefore a place where three users interacted with each other. The common public, the doctors who treated and taught and thirdly the students who learned and practiced. The programme was therefore conceived as a series of capsules which were designed by Romi Khosla Design Studios to act as nodes for the three users — via ArchDaily

We don’t often feature modern Harley-Davidson customs, but this one is worth closer inspection. It’s the latest machine from acclaimed Japanese builder Hide Motorcycles (aka HIDEMO) and it’s based on a 2003 XL1200S. The standard Sportster, despite it’s low 28” seat height, always looked a little high off the ground, but the Hide SP-20 looks properly slammed. That’s due to a new tank, rear fender and spoked wheels; the front fender has been removed to improve aesthetics still further — via Bike EXIF
Frank Owen Gehry, CC (born Frank Owen Goldberg; February 28, 1929) is a Canadian American Pritzker Prize-winning architect based in Los Angeles, California.
His buildings, including his private residence, have become tourist attractions. His works are often cited as being among the most important works of contemporary architecture in the 2010 World Architecture Survey, which led Vanity Fair to label him as the most important architect of our age
.
Gehry’s best-known works include the titanium-covered Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain; MIT Stata Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles; Experience Music Project in Seattle; Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis; Dancing House in Prague; the Vitra Design Museum and MARTa Museum in Germany; and the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto. But it was his private residence in Santa Monica, California, which jump-started his career, lifting it from the status of “paper architecture” – a phenomenon that many famous architects have experienced in their formative decades through experimentation almost exclusively on paper before receiving their first major commission in later years — via Architecture Blog
Next month the independent Swiss watchmaking brand will officially present its new Oris Big Crown X1 Calculator automatic pilot’s watch.
Well, I guess most of you have already noticed that the watch has a certain Breitling

In the western part of Graubünden 1450 meters above sea level, this 3-storey house designed by Flavio Loretz is situated in the eastern edge of the village. It stands in the company of other single-family dwellings, with close proximity to a large railway viaduct.
The body of the building reacts to the topography of the land; turning like its neighbouring valley-sided houses to provide great views of the village and moun- tains. The construction offers a contemporary response to the traditional typo- logy of Surselva, where the lower doors are solid and differ to the upper doors — via ArchDaily
