The board of Sun Microsystems was reportedly divided as it rejected a $7 billion purchase offer from IBM. Sun also reportedly terminated its agreement to negotiate exclusively with IBM, and IBM withdrew its offer. The action was reminiscent of Yahoo’s rejection of Microsoft, but Sun appears to have few suitors other than IBM
