Four-Player Console Games

My videogaming pals and I are looking for solid four-player console games for our next marathon gaming session. We have enough hardware to support four players on GCN, PS2, PSX, and XBOX, so the system isn’t an issue. Likewise, the subject matter is unimportant as long as the game is fun with four. So it can be a shooter or a minigame collection or a kart racer or whatever. So far we have picked up:

GameCube

  • Super Monkey Ball
  • Mario Party 5
  • Super Smash Bros

XBox

  • Halo 2

PS2

  • Midway Arcade Treasures 1 & 2 (Gauntlet, Rampart etc)
  • Red Faction 2

PSX

  • Crash Team Racing
  • Micro Maniacs
  • Overboard
  • Worms World Party

The things I’m considering at the moment are Twisted Metal Black, Mario Kart DD and Timesplitters 2. Any other suggestions?

You absolutely have to get Mashed. Basically the same game as micro machines/micro maniacs but for xbox/ps2. Unfortunalty you have to play sinfgle player to unlock the best tracks like the ice track, but it’s stupid fun four player.

Wow, I’d never even heard of this before, but all the gaming sites seem to think it’s excellent. I really love both Worms and Micro Maniacs, so this looks like a winner. Apparently Mashed came out a couple of days ago in Australia. I’ll defintely keep an eye out for it.

I found a copy of Mashed in a bargain bin for AUD$25. Once we got the hang of it — and turned on the airstrikes and chaotic weapon distribution — it was an excellent game. Highly recommended, and at such a low price you can’t go wrong.
