This quaint mid century modern home in Naperville, Illinois, was completed in 1959 by architect Donald Tosi, a Chicago native inspired by the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and Bruce Goff, his mentor whom he had met at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. Tosi eventually became Goff’s general contractor.
Although it includes elements associated with both Wright and Goff, the 150-square-metre residence is wholly Tosi’s. Broad horizontal lines, wood-framed construction, sliding glass doors, and flowing interiors combine with whimsical details starting with the exterior’s bright blue paint-job, the round fireplace and brick hearth in the step-down living room lined with slate, the bright, primary colour-blocked kitchen with original Geneva cabinets, and what appears to be original bathrooms. Located at 1198 Lawnmeadow Lane, the house, which has only ever had two owners, is offered at $440,000 — via Curbed
