Carpentry Shop Conversion / Agnès et Agnès

For Paris firm Agnès et Agnès, their challenge was to turn a 3,444-square-foot former carpentry shop into a homey dwelling for a family of seven. Their solution? Putting all the common areas—living room, dining room, kitchen—on the ground floor, right under the soaring skylights, and creating a series of lofted, box-like bedrooms that surround the whole space. The striking perforated steel handrail, a statement piece of sorts, wraps around the upper level, where each bedroom has been painted a distinct colour on the interior to convey different personalities — via Curbed
