You can now buy a solar power pack that fits into a backpack. The 11kg units measures 445mm high x 270mm wide x 270mm deep and provides 120 watt-hours of power a day. After charging for six hours with the unit’s photovoltaic panel, the pack can run a laptop for three hours or its own light for 14 hours. It costs US$550.
