Vintage Cezeta scooter back in production with electric power

It looks just like an original mid-20th century ride, but the Cezeta 506 scooter comes with some very modern power.

The scooter was originally made in Czechoslovakia (as it was) between 1957 and 1964, gaining a cult following for its distinctive look, which was the result of the petrol tank being at the front.

Neil Eamonn Smith is the man behind the relaunch, a result of replacing the engines on old models of a scooter he loved with electric ones. He has now taken this a step further, with handmade 506 models based on the original, all of which replace the original 175cc two-stroke engine with that electric power.

The current electric engine offers a range of between 100 and 200km and a top speed of between 90-110 km/h. Not bad at all.

The company is planning on building around 1,000 of the new Cezeta scooters this year and if you want one, there is a waiting list and a price tag of €7000 — via Retro to Go
