Calatrava Pilot Travel Time 5524G / Patek Philippe

The Patek Philippe 5524G, or Calatrava Pilot Travel Time, was announced the day before BaselWorld 2015. The dial of the 5524G isn’t black like many would expect to see from a pilot’s watch, but a rich, textured blue. The Arabic hour markers are Superluminova-filled and housed in white gold. The skeleton hand represents home time, while the sword hand is your travel time. For the first time with this movement, you have a date display at six o’clock in three-day intervals. Further, the pushers at eight and 10 are fluted for better grip and now feature patent-pending safety locks to prevent unintended adjustments of the local time. Before they can be operated, the pushers must be released with a quarter turn and then locked again after with a twist back — via HODINKEE
