Royal Oak Concept Acoustic Research / Audemars Piguet

Traditionally, the appreciation of a minute repeater is reserved for solely its owner, or perhaps a partner always by his or her side. With the The AP Concept Acoustic Research, that changes. Here, the watch has been engineered over eight years to produce a tone, pitch, and volume that is meant to be shared. By applying the principles of stringed instrument making, Audemars Piguet has made a breakthrough in the acoustic quality of chiming watch technology and significantly enhanced sound transmission. At the same time, AP worked to ensure that this watch would be water resistant, but not have that damper any of the resonant sound qualities that typically discourage watch manufacturers from making water-resistant repeaters — via HODINKEE
